Winter wines

Yesterday was a beautiful winter's day in Sydney - warm, clear and sunny. Today's just the opposite - cold, grey and drizzly. Now while I was indulging in some long-weekend eating and drinking, I began to think about how my taste for wine varies with the seasons. I guess most people would tend to drink whites and light reds in summer, and get stuck into the heavier reds during winter.

Thus, my question: What's your ideal wine for cold, grey winter's days/nights?

An old favourite of mine is the Torzi Frost Dodger Shiraz. Thick, rich, sensual and chewy (but still not over-the-top), this wine offers plenty of interest and character and is great value (usually around $30).
