What wine would your favourite villain drink?

Welcome to GuzzBlog. We're hoping to make this a regular feature at The Guzzle. GuzzBlog will be an opportunity for us, the Guzzlers, to have a rant about some of our day-to-day wine-related activities, and a chance for you to add your thoughts, too.

I'll start with a twist on a topic suggested by Matty recently: 'What wine would your favourite villain drink?' Don't ask me how he comes up with these.

I'll give you a couple of starting ideas. Renaissance man, gourmet and all-round evail bastard, Hannibal Lecter, once said:

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chiant

Matty and I were also discussing what Dracula would drink. My guess is a nice Southern Rhone Syrah blend that has a tangy, coppery, bloody taste.

What do you think?

I have it on reasonably good authority that one J.T. Ripper liked to sip on a couple of good Oloroso Sherries, before sneaking out into the London fog.

My guess is that the big fella would be so sick of sucking the bubbling red life blood out of young maiden's necks that, not unlike myself, he would look forward to kicking back and knocking the top of a bottle of crisp cool Riesling at the end of a long hard day (or night in his case).

Incidentally, there is a red wine called Vampire that may or may not come out of Transylvania. I can't comment on the quality of the wine, but I can confidently advise that the good people at Vampire also produce a range of "energy" drinks, Vodka and a soft drink/soda called Dracola...'nuf said.
