A Presidential Decree

With the race for the presidency of the US now officially over it was nice to see old George and the Missus welcoming the President Elect and the new First Lady into the White House for a private tour and bit of an unofficial look around.

I’m sure like most people visiting other people’s houses, during their extended poke around the Obama’s would have noted down a few things that will need to be changed.

“Ohh…I don’t like those curtains”

“mmm yes…and did you see those wooden Elvises by the front door…what were they thinking?”

One of the things that I’d like to think would be on the top of Barack’s “Things To Do Re: Moving Into White House” list, would be to whack some of his favourite vino into the wine cellar.

They’d have to find a new place for the remaining cases of Yellow Tail and Two-Buck-Chuck no doubt, and set aside several pallet loads of Bud, but in the end I’m sure they could find some space for the big O’s favourite tipple.

It’s just that…to this point no one quite knows what that may be.

Any suggestions?

Given the cool, calm and collected way he conducted himself, and the impenetrable nature of his campaign, I'd say he'd be stocking the cellar with a mix of dry Clare Valley Riesling and opaque Malbec from Cahors.

It might not be fashionable and compared to any number of Aussie beers it pales in insignificance, but it has to go down as one of the single greatest things to ever come out the US of A (not a great deal of competition) and thanks to a great little stint working for the people at Anheuser Busch in London - i was able to fund my European travels.

So don't bag the Bud.

PS - Obama is a homebrew (beer and whiskey) stalwart from way back.

Touché Mr Hunt. I must admit I have been known to knock back the odd drop of Bud myself. Especially when generously provided by thoughtful representives of the Anheuser Busch company - for promotional purposes of course ; )
